(16,161 posts)He was smart to say what he said, but its not binding. It never is. Hes going to have a lot of pressure on him to run. Im not saying he will, by the way.

(101,701 posts)On edit, I thought you'd posted Biden-Warren. I love Kamala Harris, so would gladly support her on the ticket.

(10,499 posts)be the vice-presidential nominee, since they are both from California and the constitution requires that the president and the VP come from different states.
But maybe Steyer can chose Beto as his running-mate.

I think that is very important.

(12,448 posts)He did say that he would complete his Senate term if he won. So he's free to run in 2020 if he wants to.
I'd enthusiastically support Harris/Beto or vice-versa.

(814 posts)He did not say, not ever. That is what I was hearing. But, a lot happens. So, who knows.

(16,161 posts)Cornyn isnt as unpopular as Ted Cruz. The hard reality here is Beto would probably have a better shot at the Dem nomination than he would winning statewide office in Texas in the next 8-10 years.
I suppose he could run for Governor in 2022 but thats a long time to cool your heels when the iron is hot. And there is no guarantee he would win that race either. His prospects in Texas are limited in the short term.

(16,161 posts)Ive noticed a lot of bizarre irrational push back here on DU since Tuesday anytime someone brings up Beto 2020. Somebody actually said he shouldnt run because he said Fuck on national TV. Ive got some bad news for the doubters: he may run in 2020 and if he does hell likely be quite formidable in the primaries.

(14,565 posts)Harris is good but she is just the type of aggressive woman who will threaten and turn off those fragile male voters. That's simply bottom line logic. I know enough of them to understand how they think.
Amy Klobuchar was our most impressive senator in the Kavanuagh hearings, IMO. I didn't think it was particularly close. Her tone was excellent along with caliber of questioning. Unlike Harris and others, Klobuchar approached each segment not with a prepared unbendable agenda but with relaxed ability to listen and adjust. I thought it was incredibly impressive, and likable.
Consequently I was not surprised that Klobuchar won in such dominant fashion on Tuesday, busting 60% and managing numbers in certain counties that Democrats don't see any more.
If we nominate a woman on top the ticket I like Klobuchar above the others. Trump would have a difficult time twisting her. Plus she represents an important region to our electoral needs.

(16,161 posts)Great senator, but against the likes of ORourke, Harris and Biden its hard to see him getting much traction in a primary. Youve got to have some charisma to win these days. I doubt even Brown would consider himself charismatic. At any rate, the paying your dues construct is outdated and old fashioned. Its also demonstrably false. He was in Congress FFS.

(11,949 posts)Would be unbeatable in my opinion. And 2 very liberal candidates.
Sherrod is experienced, very liberal (I dislike his trade positions) and can go head to head with Trump. Plus would carry the Midwest.
I like Beto, but after Trump I think Americans will want steady experience. Emphasis on experience.

We can play fantasy football politics all day and its fun to talk about. But there will be a process and likely many candidates to choose from. It will all be sorted out.
