Either you win or you lose. The result is in the votes that get counted, not in your own personal opinion of whether you did well enough or not, nor in whether you make a phone call or speach after the voting has stopped.

Plus people want results, and there's always a party for both candidates, so a concession or an acceptance speech is expected at the end of the night.

I agree if the count is within 3% they should definitely hold off and give a Stacey Abrams "To be continued!" speech without conceding.

We have to find some way to counteract that type of thing. Otherwise margin for error is gone. Huge difference between 37% saying DeSantis is too conservative and 46% believing Gillum was too liberal.

Republicans pushed the fear that Gillum was a socialist and Florida would turn into another Venezuela. It was rejected by Politico as false, and by anybody with a fleck of common sense as laughable, but apparently it was very effective among heavily Cuban districts of Miami, where Gillum lost 16 points compared to Hillary in 2016. That 16 points was more than enough to shift the statewide outcome.

This Miami Herald article from early September is now being spotlighted as very accurate toward what played out in those Cuban districts. In recent days I have seen references to this article all over the place on Miami sites, with some Miamians saying it was exactly what their friends were saying about Gillum and Venezuela.

Fear is reality in the Trump era:

I can't blame him at all as I can't blame State Rep. Kiah Morris of Vermont who couldn't get protection for her family after racially motivated death threats, vandalism at her home and her grounds, as well as multiple home invasions.

I don't want any more martyrs and am filled with gratitude for those who really tried and still trying. It's just heartbreaking that some dems cannot understand the spine it takes.

If, when all the vote are counted, he is ahead of DeSantis, what is he supposed to say "Give it to DeSantis because I conceded on incomplete information"?
