(13,305 posts)...it's hard for me to have much sympathy for the cable news networks given the degree to which they all enabled Trump and covered Trump and the way that they spent the past 2 decades trafficking in little other than false equivalency and both-sides ism and shirked far too many of their actual journalistic responsibilities.
MacFarlane is right but the the time for this was well before this Acosta thing.

(4,157 posts)You are right about them providing cover for Dipshit. Then it is their reporters that are targeted and threatened.

(13,305 posts)...than the management. I think it's a hell of a lot easier for them to just play stenographer to what campaign managers and press folks say to them. I think it's easier just reporting on Trump's tweets than actually reporting. I think it's easier for them to just print what both sides say rather than to actually fact check and call them out on this stuff.
Yes, that is what Acosta tried to do, but so much of this outrage is too little, too late. And until I see these stations use their programming time on the regular to report on and call out Trump and Republicans at every turn, a lot of this just seems like false outrage on their part or at the most base level a NIMBY approach to reporting. As long as it doesn't affect them they don't care. But when it hits close to home, THEN all of a sudden they are outraged.

(21,739 posts)They put up with his abuse at every one of his rallies for the past 3 years and if they stopped covering him he would only do 2 things. 1) Cry like the baby he is and 2) wither up and die.
That's about it
