"One of the officers on the Midlothian police force is a dangerous homicidal incompetent who is guilty of either insanely bad judgment or dangerous homicidal tendencies with racial overtones. Approach cops in this town with extreme caution until he is identified, removed from the force and prosecuted."

Will we be known worldwide as THE one industrialized country where this is taken in stride, and nothing is done, because nothing CAN be done? We're well on the way, this is for sure.

Every time this happens, the world press reports it. When the point is reached when the rest of the world takes it as life as usual in the USA, we will have lost something (respect) we will take a century to recover, and our extremist right won't even notice that it's missing.

While there have been better-made horror movies in the 50 years since, some even directed by Romero himself, and there have been bigger budgets, better actors and more scares, there may not be any single denouement and message more frightening than the one George Romero leaves us with at the end of Night of the Living Dead. As a police sheriff says the final lines, "That's another one for the fire," we're shown still images of Ben's lifeless body stacked on the pile of the dead — an effigy to be burned on a lawn. Ben survived the night of the living dead but could not survive America. In the end, they got him too.[link:https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/why-night-living-dead-is-more-relevant-ever-1145708|
