(775 posts)The title of this post is a reference to the successful presidential campaign of Bill Clinton. Clinton's chief strategist, James Carville,
wanted everyone involved in the campaign to stay "on message," so he gave an extremely succinct directive about exactly what that message was: "It's the economy, stupid!!"
In today's post, the author is simply saying that 2020's equivalent of "It's the economy, stupid," would be to say "It's the get out the vote, stupid!"
The mid-terms give evidence to the fact that in our extremely polarized society, the point is no longer to try to convert Trump supporters to see the Democratic point of view. The point is to get every possible Democratic voter to the polls.
