2. That's not what happened in Germany.

The so-called democrats (except the socialists) sat on their hands while the communists were banned and their deputies arrested. Then, except for the socialists, they voted for Hitler’s dictatorship after the reichstag fire. Legalism paved the road to Nazi barbarism.
