There is also a large number of Democrats who support Nancy Pelosi.

I know that the GOP hates Pelosi but I am not sure that is a good reason to change leadership.

We all can look forward to the "success" that will bring after our hard-fought efforts to reclaim the House.

Let's not pretend like this is some new Russian plot or that these folks really just hate women. Pelosi is not without her flaws and she's slowly losing her caucus.

And honestly, the entire fact that we're worried about no one being able to take her place, no woman specifically, is a huge black mark in my book against the entire leadership. They've all been there long enough to groom successors. This shouldn't even be a point of contention in 2018.

She needs to stop the bleed or work out some exit speakership package with them because the folks that want her gone or want someone new aren't going to go away peacefully. They're just going to wait until their numbers grow.

There still isn't an alternative out there campaigning against her formally yet. I doubt that she loses, but this definitely has to shape how she handles her upcoming speakership.

I suppose some of the Democrats in Congress in 2016 blamed Pelosi with the election results, but I think, to be fair, she should get a lot of credit for the success for the big House gains in 2018.

Some people have committed to removing the highest ranking woman in American political history -- literally without having the slightest idea who or what would replace her.

The people gave Democrats the house majority for the new 116th congress. It could fail. It could be made to fail. Taking out experienced, proven leadership is the first, critical step. The second is substituting a weaker, less competent substitute.

Another part is simple misogyny, of course, on right AND left. Where're the noise and passion for taking out 79-year-old Steny Hoyer (Stanny who?) in this supposed year of the woman?

Then there are the #FiveWhiteMen who are also against Pelosi, but all mostly for selfish reasons of personal benefit. None have the leadership experience or admiration of their colleagues that they should, but with support of clueless ideologues and Republicans as necessary one could conceivably manage to make enough deals to get elected.

Btw, the rest of the caucus is gravely concerned. This is their business, and they're not all innocent tools and underprincipled opportunists by any means. They know all that's behind this.
