Kansas City officials poured bleach on food meant for people who are homeless, rather than let a community org serve food without a permit

Apparently the permit entails food preparation in professional kitchens only, which the organization couldn't afford. I can see following the rules, but pouring bleach on food in front of hungry homeless people is just plain cruel and mean-spirited.

(52,130 posts)consistently told us their religious beliefs should trump LGBT rights talk about religious freedom when it comes to rules about feeding the homeless.

(4,892 posts)But that is a sin. Waste food and let people suffer. Not to mention the animals who died for the food.
I bet these sick fucks claim to be good Christians.

(4,723 posts)Let me be specific: it should have been handled humanely. Pouring bleach on food in front of a starving person is sadistic. Surely there was a discrete and humane way to handle the situation.

(17,235 posts)Have they ever seen what goes on in restaurant kichens?! I would trust the food prepared by the volunteer supporters above all others! Hope the KC officials lose their jobs!

(21,805 posts)More dangerous than the food picked out of garbage bins? Seriously. They're right, people were just complaining about the homeless being in "their" parks.
And why not just haul the food away for godsakes?! Instead of pouring bleach on it in front of people who were counting on having that food. Just plain vicious and immoral.

(4,281 posts)Once bleach gets on your dry clothes, it wrecks the dye and weakens the fabric. Sometimes you can't see the damage until you wash them. it would be very expensive to replace some of those jackets and pants. Maybe they would decide not to do it next time.
