(2,894 posts)In her bid to become House speaker, Pelosi on Wednesday highlighted a growing number of endorsements from labor groups, including the Service Employees International Union, which spent heavily to help elect Democrats to Congress this year.
Pelosis office released a letter from SEIU President Mary Kay Henry saying the minority leader had demonstrated her support for the unions key issues, including increasing the minimum wage and improving Medicare and Medicaid.

(7,113 posts)...that perhaps they opposed Pelosi for being too "establishment" and not progressive enough. However, many succeeded in turning a red district moderate blue, and doing so apparently required they throw Nancy under the bus.
Even Rep. Fudge, who the #FiveWhiteGuys are now putting forward as a possible Speaker candidate, is actually less progressive than Pelosi and was one of two Dems who voted against LGBT equality: https://upload.democraticunderground.com/100211435309
On the Progressive Punch scale rating Members of Congress, Pelosi is currently #25 and Fudge is #42.
#FiveWhiteGuys members Seth Moulten is #142, and Tim Ryan is #123.
