Because

I just cannot see any valid reason to ever work with republicans on anything. Ever.

Why?

Because it gives the impression we are equals. It makes who they are and what they do seem legitimate. It normalizes their behavior and actions. You don’t negotiate with a misbehaving child.
They endorse and support a criminal president. Some republicans in Congress are actual indicted criminals.

Because any deal with them often requires significant compromise, often watering down or significantly offsetting any gains in some other way.

Because compromise is great as long as you are not the one being compromised.

Because I’m tired of people of color, women, immigrants, the poor, the middle class, LGBTQ and children being told “maybe next year”.

Fuck republicans. Let’s do it this year. And next year. And next. And every year after that.
If the answer is “no” let that answer come from republicans, not Democrats. Let their “nah”s ring from sea to shining sea. We should be the positive force for change. If they don’t want to participate in that than so be it. No concessions. No compromise. No delays.

Because “We the People” deserve and should expect better of our government.

3. So nothing ever gets done unless there are supermajorities in both houses of Congress?

I'm really confused by this line of reasoning. You sound like only total victory is acceptable and anyone who has a differing opinion is just wrong. You know, like.....them.

What you suggest is that we work with people that we know are criminals? That we know are morally and ethically bankrupt?
That is not an opinion but a fact.
Republicans know trump is a criminal but continue to support him. We have audio and video and paperwork of him admitting to actual crimes.
There are literally people under criminal investigation and indicted criminals in trump’s cabinet.
Republican voters literally sent indicted criminals to congress.
They didn’t just try to to repeal the ACA once or twice but over 50 times. More importantly, doing so knowing it likely would not be considered legal nor with an actual plan of what to do if they were successful.
That is morally and ethically bankrupt and fiscally irresponsible.
That is just one example of hundreds that I can give.

Until republicans admit they have been wrong and absolve themselves of these issues I see no way forward that should include them as part of the process in any serious way

... WH and Senate, the only things that can get done right now are what they want to get done (if we - the dem controlled House - agree to it). So why should we agree to much of anything? Under such circumstances, nothing getting done is probably the best case scenario for us.

I’m not advocating for a govt shutdown, etc... we need to keep things running. But we sure as Hell don’t need to pass new laws to accomplish republican goals merely in the name of “working with the other side”.
