Franken was a main reason that Sessions was forced to recuse himself that gave us Mueller.
Mueller, well, self explanatory.
Avenatti exposed Cohen which led to the raids on his properties and his turning on Trump.
I am not a person who believes in coincidences, I believe these people were targeted. If Avenatti was set up then he is still a viable candidate for president.

(23,296 posts)What's weird to me is the timing. Why would tRump, Stone, Levin...whoever this was...do a hit job at this particular moment? Avenatti's act seems to be wearing thin on its own...why go after him right now in light of that? Unless he actually has something on the tRump clan that they are really afraid of. WTF.

(37,648 posts)I doubted he was violent, but even if he were, he knew he had aspirations, so he would right now be on his best behavior. He has shown that he's not the sort of person not to be control of his behavior insofar as something like this goes. This arrest was a little too convenient.

(37,648 posts)It is widely known that Harvey Levin & Trump are friends, and that Levin used his show & website, TMZ, to help Trump get elected, particularly helping him with the Access Hollywood tapes and other issues he had.
TMZ is like The National Enquirer. It's yellow journalism (to the extent it has any "news" at all), and a gossip rag.

Tell a big lie and see how much of it sticks. The bigger the lie the better. There are people out there who will believe the lie long after the facts are known.
A lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes.

(10,122 posts)Here's links to TMZ stories on this that Avenatti denies:
http://www.tmz.com/2018/11/14/michael-avenatti-arrested-domestic-violence-stormy-daniels-attorney/
Our law enforcement sources say Avenatti was arrested Wednesday after a woman filed a felony DV report. We're told her face was "swollen and bruised" with "red marks" on both cheeks.
Our sources say the alleged incident occurred Tuesday night, but there was another confrontation Wednesday between the two at an exclusive apartment building in the Century City area of L.A.
We're told Wednesday afternoon the woman was on the sidewalk on her cellphone with sunglasses covering her eyes, sobbing and screaming on the phone, "I can't believe you did this to me. I'm going to get a restraining order against you."
We're told security brought her inside the building, took her upstairs and Michael showed up 5 minutes later and ran into the building. He screamed repeatedly, "She hit me first." We're told he angrily added, "This is bulls***, this is f***ing bulls***." We're told he tried getting into the elevator but security denied him access.
Cops showed up and escorted Avenatti into a corner of the apartment lobby and spoke with him for 5 to 10 minutes and then took him into custody.
A law enforcement source says on Tuesday, Avenatti "kicked her out of the apartment" and that's when the alleged domestic violence occurred. We're told she went back to the apartment on Wednesday to retrieve her belongings and called police to stand by in case things got heated.
We're told Avenatti is currently in custody.
A follow up TMZ story
http://www.tmz.com/2018/11/16/michael-avenatti-domestic-violence-arrest-jacob-wohl/
Michael Avenatti sure doesn't seem worried about his felony domestic violence arrest, and he's literally pointing the finger at right-wing conspiracy theorist Jacob Wohl for what he says is a frame job.
We got Avenatti leaving Dan Tana's restaurant Thursday night in WeHo, and he tripled down that he is certain he'll be exonerated after an investigation, and then it's judgment day for Wohl.
Avenatti clearly thinks Wohl -- who was implicated in the false sexual misconduct claims against Robert Mueller last month -- has trumped up the domestic violence allegations against him.
For his part, Wohl has denied he's behind the DV allegations.
And, Avenatti seems more than confident ... Stormy Daniels will remain his client, despite her wait-and-see comments Wednesday.
But here is a non media report that has some teeth to it
Arrest Announcement of Michael Avenatti NR18291ml

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department West Los Angeles Detectives have arrested Mr. Michael Avenatti

The case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney for prosecution.
There is a potential problem with it.

Cohabitants, as used in the statute, means more than roommates and instead describes a relationship of two people living together for a substantial period of time.
Since his wives (one recent split up) have spoken out to defend him
http://fortune.com/2018/11/15/avenatti-domestic-violence-arrest-defense/
"Cohabitant ... describes a relationship of two people living together for a substantial period of time"
"cohabitants" requirement for this charge is suspect here.
I do not know what to think. I like Avenatti. He usually gets his story right. But like many stories, there are two sides. I'm not going to try to pass judgment at this point. What we can say is the LAPD charge is some evidence that something appears to have gone on and the LAPD must have something to back it up or the charge would not have been laid.
Whether Avenatti is guilty or not is inconclusive based upon what I have seen.
