(3,115 posts)Trying to deflect the current shithole with a mutual relationship that happened eons ago has nothing to do with the nightmare that Dumpster is inflicting on us. Focus! Focus! Dump's party and the ratings grabbing media are jacking this up, and too many are taking the bait.
I'm not going to "go crazy" 20 plus years later over a young woman who proclaimed that she was going to Washington to have affairs, and she did. One with a philandering, couldn't keep his zipper closed president, and whoever else she had an affair with. Let me say this: At 57, I can say that I've never have had an affair with a married man and believe me, I was approached many times throughout my young and older adult life by professional athletes, pols and by a ex-friend's brother who was a priest. Yes, he was a priest who took a vow of celibacy as we know priests do (That's another whole long story), and each time he propositioned me, I told him no and as I was propositioned by the others I told them NO. NEVER, not me in this lifetime, because even at 18, 19 and 20, I knew that these men were married and had children. Never ME. Never ME. As for Lewinsky & Clinton, I'm also not condemning them to HELL and damnation for what they did as consenting adults. How they made peace with what they did is up to them & the married spouses who were involved, and their higher power if they have one.

She said Monica did not have anyone looking after her (like a female)....What the hell ever...Im not reaching out to a young ADULT that is sleeping with my husband. Let her parents be her soft place to fall. Yes..Bill should have known better but it is not Hillarys job to look after her. Heck Hillary was trying to get through the scandal with her own family. She was trying to comfort her own daughter.

(58,785 posts)changed it forever. In a Vanity Fair article she says at 24 Ken Starr's team threatened her with 27 years in prison if she didn't cooperate with his swiftboating/impeachment operation, also threatened her parents with prison and ruin. Brett Kavanaugh wanted to ask Clinton sexually explicit questions about Monica Lewinsky, like injecting suggestive prurience in asking if he inserted a cigar in her vagina.
In 2017 she saw Starr for the first time ever in a restaurant and introduced herself.
Ken Starr asked me several times if I was doing O.K. A stranger might have surmised from his tone that he had actually worried about me over the years. His demeanor, almost pastoral, was somewhere between avuncular and creepy. He kept touching my arm and elbow, which made me uncomfortable.
Understandably, I was a bit thrown. (It was also confusing for me to see Ken Starr as a human being. He was there, after all, with what appeared to be his family.) I finally gathered my wits about meafter an internal command of Get it together. Though I wish I had made different choices back then, I stammered, I wish that you and your office had made different choices, too. In hindsight, I later realized, I was paving the way for him to apologize. But he didnt. He merely said, with the same inscrutable smile, I know. It was unfortunate.
Unfortunate.(!) Well, she certainly is living a different life. Hillary running meant being hounded by the media all over again and having to fight to get her own story out there. Yet she's choosing to live it as a very public life and even make an interesting and varied career as an activist and speaker out of it.

(261 posts)...and found her story very riveting on the podcast Slow Burn. I was not aware of how she was ambushed by the FBI, how frantic she was to keep the story from coming out, and how betrayed she felt by Linda Tripp. Maybe I was purposely tuning it out, but I was also caregiving for my mother with Alzheimers. So the podcast was riveting to me. I found her much more sympathetic than I had at the time.

when she was moved out of the White House. In her first book in 1999 she described how she became pregnant by him and had an abortion. I guess because he wasn't famous.
-----------------
Monica Lewinsky had a secret abortion as a result of her affair with a Pentagon employee in the midst of her scandalous fling with President Clinton, she reveals in her long-awaited book.
Lewinsky was traumatized by the experience but taunted Clinton with stories about the other man in her life, the book says.
She never told Clinton about the abortion and had to borrow money from an aunt to pay for it.
I wasnt emotionally prepared for it, Lewinsky told Londons Daily Mirror, which carries excerpts from the book and an interview with her in todays editions.
It was just horrible and very depressing.
--------------------
Among other revelations appearing in Andrew Mortons Monicas Story, which goes on sale in America today:
*Lewinsky at first didnt find Clinton attractive.
With his big red nose and coarse, wiry-looking gray hair, hes an old guy, she says.
There were tons and tons of women in the White House with crushes on him and I thought, These people are just crazy. They have really bad taste in men.'
*But during their flirtation he undressed me with his eyes and we clicked at an incredible level.
People have made it seem so demeaning for me but it wasnt, it was exciting and the irony is that I had the first orgasm of the relationship, Lewinsky said.

(8,756 posts)Neither Bill nor Hillary Clinton responded as I would like at the time and the situation looks worse in hindsight.
Lewinsky may have schemed to have an affair with POTUS Clinton but Clinton should have known better and then been forthcoming. Lewinsky is not the first young woman to use her body to get something she wanted. She has no excuse but POTUS Clinton was in a position of power and should have known better.
Starr et al are scumbags.
Unfortunate hypocritic event that still undermines Democratic goals unfortunately.
Glad Lewinsky has made an OK life for herself. She is well spoken but wish she would go away now.
Bill Clinton is a light weight sexual predator compared to Trump.
