President Trump and first lady Melania Trump greet 2018 White House Christmas tree

First lady Melania Trump greeted the official White House Christmas Tree delivered to the North Portico on Monday. President Donald Trump was there, too, for the annual FLOTUS duty of inspecting the humongous Fraser fir.

The White House pool report on the event said the Trumps emerged from the White House door at 1:12 p.m., as the horse-drawn cart with the tree pulled up. By 1:16 p.m., the Trumps were back inside the White House, the pool report said.

The tree, at 19.5 feet, is a Mountain Top Fraser Fir from Newland, N.C., and was nurtured by Larry Smith, dubbed a "Grand Champion Grower" by the National Christmas Tree Association.

The tree will be on display in the Blue Room of the White House through the holiday season.

The Trumps, meanwhile, are leaving Tuesday afternoon to consume the annual Thanksgiving feast at their Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Fla.

My father actually had a small buggy and a horse to pull it. He used it to go to his farm
almost every day, about 5 miles from home. Horses are smart, that horse could make all
the road turns for the 5 mile journey while my father was actually dozing off sitting up.

Was on a Big Bus double-decker tour with sis, BIL, and niece and drove on streets that had a view of the WH and saw the outside tree setup and all the tents and whatnot all around it.



We went past the above view because the tour operator said they were being detoured... Now I know why.
