Simple answer. They are not Republicans and they were the alternate choice. That does make sense.

Personally I support Pelosi. Why people are perplexed about supporting a Democrat over a Republican via the Pelosi factor is nonsense.
Elect Democrats and work it out from there. We fight the battles that are put before us.
If you are talking primaries you have an excellent point. In the generals, not so much.

(7,396 posts)4. After reading your post again I think the term "now" went right by me. I was responding in terms of
Dem vs, Repub in general. Factor in the "now" and it seems to be age and sex related.

(43,299 posts)5. I have not heard any elected members say she needs to go for a a more progressive Speaker.
I have seen the progressives say she needs to be the Speaker versus a more centrist, less progressive type that the centrists who are opposing Pelosi want.
Did I miss something?
