Crops are rotting in fields as Trump's trade war bites US farmers

Will Martin 3h

American farmers are struggling to find storage for crops that would usually be sold overseas, with some being forced to leave produce rotting in fields as a last resort, as the trade conflict between the US and China continues.

Farmers in various US states, farmers are being forced into plowing their crops under — effectively burying them under soil in fields — as there is not enough storage room in storage facilities, and they are unable to sell their products thanks to Chinese tariffs, Reuters reported on Wednesday.

All grain depots and silos are almost completely full, meaning farmers have to find their own storage solutions, or allow their crops to rot. Neither option is particularly palatable.

from his being active in Democratic politics (a rarity around here), says that right now it would cost him more to harvest the beans than he could sell them for. IF he could sell them.

He is considering abandoning soybean production.

acquaintances in Minnesota and South Dakota. Everything came to a halt this past week because of a couple of Snowfalls. The means yields will fall by a ton when they do get into the fields.

Elevators are full and not buying,Processor's are almost done buying Corn and Beans at below replacement costs. Leaving some interesting choices, seed and fertilizer purchases are usually done in the month of November as well as Fuel is booked for Planting Season.

Going to be one hell of a wash out in the next three to four months. It these folks do not have the leverage with their Grain in Storage as well as inflation value in their land, they are screwed tattooed and the Auctioneer will be on the Farm Site in April and May.

Every Vote Counted, now live with it.

and just got some push back from one of those folks yesterday. I and many others from the twin City Metro were on those anti Foreclosure lines in the early eighties and the fellow who gave me some crap yesterday, forgot,we were the ones who saved ass from the Auctioneer back in the day. And he defends Trump and Purdue.

So gang, you can not fix those who subscribe to Stupid.

I remember reading a biography of mafia hit man Richard "Iceman" Kuklinski. With the exception of one person (whom he later regretted not killing), he murdered everyone who was unfortunate or dumb enough to ever befriend him. Kinda like what Trump does to his constituents/ fan base.

Trump claiming he'll make you great again is the kiss of death. You can count on being fed alive to rats when he claims to have your best interests at heart, just like the Iceman did to many of his victims.
