"Somebody" almost always beats "somebody else"--have a name or stay out of the game.

And Nancy is a "Somebody" with a capital "S"!

Okaaay.

You named 2 people who supposedly "got what they wanted" out of it. A subcommittee and agenda item are nice - but they didn't get what they said they were after: toppling Pelosi.

And it doesn't seem to be working out so well for the other 14 or so big talkers who will probably e wandering around the wilderness for awhile nursing their butthurts as they try to figure out how to save face and make the most of being members of the Committee on Bumfutz they'll likely be consigned to.

instead of just using Pelosi's weakened position to get stuff they wanted.

Also some of the new Democratic congresspeople actually ran (and flipped Republican districts) by promising voters they wouldn't support Pelosi. So they're just filfilling the promise they made - it doesn't mean they actually expected to replace Pelosi.

No one with a clue really believed Pelosi wouldn't be Speaker again.

It's both OK that Nancy Pelosi gets to be speaker again AND people challenging her for that position. It's all a part of our democratic process.

you get exactly what you ask for...not necessarily what you expect. Time will tell what the people you listed who 'gained' something (and others not mentioned) actually end up getting.

You keep playin' where you shouldn't be playin'
And you keep thinkin' that you'll never get burned, ha!
I just found me a brand new box of matches, yeah
And what he knows, you ain't had time to learn

These boots are made for walkin'
And that's just what they'll do
One of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you

Are you ready boots?
Start walkin'!

"And what he knows, you ain't had time to learn"

Change the 'he' to 'she' and we got Nancy! Those youngins got a LOT to learn.

They must have thought she was a pushover because of her age, gender, and size -- but she's smacked down more Big Bad Wolves than they have yet to meet. She has multiple awards in her office for Herding Cats. She knows Capitol Hill inside and out.

23. Lesson 2...

Refer to lesson 1.

Having said that, I figure it was always about committee chairs and seats. Several of the folks got jobs they were looking for, and some got promises that their favorite cause would be on the agenda.

I generally don't worry about this kind of thing. It happens every two years, actually, and is especially bad when power shifts from one party to the other.

Nancy knows what she's doing. She was never in any real danger of losing the Speakership. I'm sure there will be more wrangling for a few weeks yet.

On election night there were still a lot of close races yet to be called. They Anti Nancy team just had to count how many were in their camp, then make a determination if they had en ought.

Nancy should put them all on a Sea same Street Committee and make them watch Count Dracula for the first month.
