3. In NYS, the highest court is the Court of Appeals

The Supreme Court is actually the trial level court. It is called Supreme because it is the lowest level court of general jurisdiction, i.e. it can hear civil and criminal matters; there is also no dollar limit on its civil jurisdiction and it can try felonies, as well as misdemeanors.

I just want to make sure that you understand that this case is still in its relatively early stages.
