(15,682 posts)I've never heard anyone on this site stand up for the guy. On the contrary, in fact. It's been bad news since I first came across him. I'll have to take this with a grain of salt.

Tabbi of Rolling Stone has a different take on the situation

though he is not looking at the ambassador's removal - he's looking at the indictment issue
I do not endorse this discussion because it has RT on it (Consortium News)

It provides a different, pro Assange perspective, claims he's being put through a form of torture by their treatment of him, etc
They think Trump would like to get his hands on him and that the Democrats and left media are going along because Assange helped put Trump into office.
Boston Globe editorial expresses concerns

It's all information for me to distill. I have not formed any conclusion yet except to say that it seems to be a story worthy of keeping an eye on as it raises a number of good questions.

If he told someone to hack the emails, then thats a crime. But it still wouldnt make him a terrorist or equivalent to UBL.

(1,619 posts)Sure he's wrong sometimes. But he takes chances. He is not the kind of person who assumes that playing it safe and not really saying anything too overtly abrupt makes him wise and worthy of the esteem of other equally lukewarm souls.
And he says things like this:
"Julian Assange conspired with Russian hackers to illegally alter the outcome of the 2016 election. What Assange did was a cyber terrorist attack, and an act of war, against the United States. No matter what his apologists say, he's not a "journalist." He's essentially Bin Laden."
There isn't a single word in that very well said statement that I disagree with.
I'd much prefer to go to a party filled with Palmers than some of the folks condemning him above.
