UPDATE: Major League Baseball says it has asked Cindy Hyde-Smith to return its $5000 contribution.

Over the past week, seven major corporations have asked for Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS) to refund their contributions. Earlier this month, Hyde-Smith told a crowd at a campaign event that she would be willing to attend a "public hanging."

But one prominent American institution is going the other direction: Major League Baseball. According to an FEC report filed on November 24, the Office of the Commissioner of Major League Baseball PAC donated $5000, the legal maximum, to Hyde-Smith's campaign. The contribution is dated November 23.

The Office of the Commissioner of Major League Baseball PAC was established in 2002. It was formed "as the sport endured a number of potentially crippling controversies, including the threat of a player's strike and fan anger over the possible contraction of two teams." The commissioner of Major League Baseball is Rob Manfred.

Charles B. Johnson, the co-owner of the San Fransisco Giants, recently donated $2700, the legal maximum to Hyde-Smith. Johnson's wife, Ann, also contributed the max. The donation spurred outrage from baseball fans online.

Manfred should demand that she give it to Baseball Charities.

Disgusting.

This woman is definitely not backing away from her racist roots to appeal for votes. And she will probably win because Mississippi is dreadful. But she--along with her supporters--have been exposed. I would imagine at some point there is bound to be a reckoning. I hope it's soon. I'm patient but I'm also antsy.

You know burn people alive on wooden stakes, like they use to do to women they thought were witches. Didn't their leader in hate, Trump, say something about witch hunts?

Or how about a good old fashion stoning. There are plenty of sinners and adulterers that could use a good public stoning to death. Didn't their cult leader have continuous adulterous relationships?

I wonder where Cindy's fans draw the line? I bet some of those who contributed would fit the public stoning to death criteria too.

This country seems to be filled with rabid dogs that can't seem to quench their hatred.

From MLB spokesperson, about the $5,000 donation to Senate candidate Cindy Hyde-Smith: "The contribution was made in connection with an event that MLB lobbyists were asked to attend. MLB has requested that the contribution be returned."

the "game", which is timed out every five minutes anyways. Three hours for an hour and half of play is stupid.
