I do not like the solid red, unrelieved look -- they should've been 'softened' with something cheerful & festive... being too big, too artsy, too ... disconcerting. But Nancy Reagan did have smaller ones, so there is some precedent.

106. It isn't the cranberry trees (though most photos did not identify them as such & they looked like

trees that had been dyed red). Those (on close up view) look pretty amazing given the amount of laborious effort taken to pain-stakingly place cranberries, one by one, on a mold to craft. Certainly I find that impressive. Yet the entire hall filled with them? Garish.

Do you deny the symbolism from a hall of RED trees meant to convey? Or the wreaths made of thousands of "BEBEST" pencils. Same pencils hanging off trees as ornaments?

Tacky....And, though, the close-up of cranberry trees looks "better", the point remains; I wouldn't condone an entire hall of BLUE trees either.

Look at all of the non-red trees and decorations. The red ones are the only bad ones and they are barely shown here.
I decorated Macy's trees for 4 years when I was in Visual/Display and the people who did these trees and all the decorations did a very good job.

It is just the one hallway with the red trees that is hideous, the rest is lovely. Last year's trees were like White Birch trees with out leaves and lighting that made the branches' shadows look spooky on the ceiling.
