Outdoor retailer Patagonia announced Wednesday that it plans to donate the $10 million it is saving from President Trumps corporate tax cuts this year to environmental groups.
Based on last years irresponsible tax cut, Patagonia will owe less in taxes this year $10 million less, in fact, CEO Rose Marcario wrote in a LinkedIn post Wednesday afternoon. Instead of putting the money back into our business, were responding by putting $10 million back into the planet. Our home planet needs it more than we do.
"Taxes protect the most vulnerable in our society, our public lands and other life-giving resources, she continued. "In spite of this, the Trump administration initiated a corporate tax cut, threatening these services at the expense of our planet.
Marcario added that the donation will be made on top of the companys ongoing 1% for the Planet campaign, which gives 1 percent of the companys sales to the environment's preservation and restoration.

(63,221 posts)are great and last forever. I have jackets, bags, backpacks and fleeces from them that have lasted for over 15-20 years. They wear very well. I have a Freightliner rolling duffel bag from them that I bought years ago and have completely abused dragging through airports and over-packing and eventually the internal handles bent. I took it into the store and they replaced the handles no questions asked, free of charge. Their products aren't cheap, but when you consider how long they last it is worth the investment.

(33,262 posts)I clicked the OP to find out how Patagonia was getting a U.S. tax cut; didn't know there was a company by that name.
Good on 'em to recognize the wrong and do the right!
