On edit: okay, probably the beef sundae?

It's a state fair thing. Scoop of mashed potatoes (like vanilla ice cream) topped with roast beef and gravy.

I've never seen a tater tot on a stick, but I'm guessing it's a take on tater tot hot dish, which is a casserole, usually made with ground beef, vegetables, and creamed soup topped with tater tots and baked.

There has been a full sized cow sculpted out of butter (sometimes more than one in the Agricultural Building since 1911. I'm assuming these are butter pats in the shape of a cow, served with rolls.

Maybe what we Michiganders call a hot beef sandwich? Beef and gravy over bread slathered with mashed potatoes?

Not sure how one keeps a loaded tater tot on a stick, though.

Those are all foods from the state fair. My son had the beef sundae, it was good. So was the corn.

Probably all won food awards at the state fair.

A beef sundae sounds like exactly the novelty food attraction you'd find at a county fair in areas where beef is king.

The county fairs in garlic country in California, for example, feature garlic EVERYTHING. Including ice cream!

How and why does a Republican-sponsored event in Iowa have a Mexican corn dish prominently featured on the menu?

Don't they build walls for that sort of thing?

Iowa grown, Iowa style food. Anything Mexican, especially Mexican corn (even if they only meant Mexican style corn, that's not what the menu said), is off the Republican radar in a state like Iowa these days.

Aren't they worried about getting blown away by MS-13 or something? Doesn't Iowa care about the border?
