1. Make America America again - Langston Hughes

This could be a direct challenge to Trump's MAGA, which has resulted in an America that is anything but greater in the world and is far adrift from any concept most of us have of what America is. I know reality has never matched image, but the anger of the RW white supremists at Charlottesville, the horrors at the border and an amoral foreign policy that is willing to weaken every part of the Western alliance that we have led since WWII.

Have a goal to be part of and lead the Western coalition again -- being good allies with countries like Canada, the EU, the UK, and other countries who actually share the values the US has thought it had ... until this president.

We need to lead in seriously fighting climate change - by putting in more subsidies for people and companies who transition from fossil fuels, funding technology development for breakthough technology that could either provide clean energy or remove carbon from the air, and to meet our pledges from 2015 and 2016 to help third world countries make the choice to avoid building coal power plants. (I watched a Yale Kerry conversation with Moniz (among others) that spoke of how the funding for research into carbon reducing technology - that no company would/could afford to research when there is risk that they lead to nothing commercial - was eliminated.)

Have a goal to again be the country that would inscribe Emma Lazarus's poem on the base of the Statue of Liberty.

Become a country where we offer everyone the basic needs of life, including adequate food and medical insurance. If we are a rich nation, why can't we do this like other wealthy nations do.

3. Remove Trump. It's now clear he's a traitor doing Russia's bidding. That CANNOT stand.

Dems must not put future elections or their own ambitions ahead of saving our country, which is what is at stake at this point.

They must investigate but this shouldn't take too long - then impeach and pressure the Senate to remove Trump as a danger to the world and to our democracy. It's not that he paid off porn stars and broke tax or campaign finance laws. Go for what the founding fathers most certainly would have considered "high crimes": treason.

4. Get some of our younger candidates front & center in the media

so come the primary people are familiar with their faces & names. Otherwise we're going to have Biden at the top of the ticket & probably a white guy with him. I do not believe that in order to beat the party of old white men that we must run old white men! We need to engage the non-voters, not go after disaffected republicans.

Dem leadership also needs to face the fact that marketing is a huge part of winning & start coming up with clever memes for every issue. It worked for the GOP, even though many of their memes are lies. (Leave no child behind, healthy forests, clear skies.) Start with health care: Why would you vote for someone who wants to take your health care away from you? Then, deconstruct that entire Joe Conservative essay & come up with a clever meme or question for every issue.

I read an article about the farm tariffs where several of the farmers stated they would never vote for a dem. The author pointed out some dem legislation that they all liked, but it didn't matter - they'd stay home before they'd vote for a dem. The author had a comment that I thought was spot on: Democrats are good at policy but they suck at politics.
