Of the danger of investigating and not legislating even as they fucking investigated Obama and Hillary for 8 fucking years non stop and continued to this very day.
Damn these people always looking to handcuff the Democrats, while Republicans burn the effing house down.

(24,406 posts)I wish that the MSM would stop broadcasting "advice" from Republicans to Democrats. It's insulting hearing "advice" from people whom belong to a party that's got their own stuff to clean up/fix.

(64,995 posts)The dems that were losing their majority didn't warn Rs about what they should and shouldn't do.
But, it's pretty popular right now for the Rs to tell dems that very thing.

(2,770 posts)Believing they are superior and have great wisdom to share with us all is, unfortunately, something seemingly in their DNA. (Apologies to all of you out there who break this mold, men like my husband, brother, sons-in-law, nephews.) That the Republicans want to do this is a given. That the media indulges them is whats reprehensible to me.

republicans investigated Hillary until they locked the door, otherwise they would have investigated her over the Christmas holidays

(14,563 posts)The media is so brainwashed/programmed.
Always use republican frames to prop up republican (the feckless son of privilege was the guy you would like to have a beer with), and negatively frame the democrat/liberals (the competent, accomplished public servant was "arrogant" .
Republicans go into power - PERMANENT REPUBLICAN MAJORITY, MANDATE! NEVER, NEVER, NEVER hear calls for bi-partisanship, and any opposition to the horrible shit they do is PARTISAN.
Democrats go into power - Gotta be careful to not overplay your hand! Universal calls for bi-partisanship and endless urges to reach out to the sainted "middle america."

(44 posts)for the fact that the media needs a captive willing audience to be profitable for the owners, who just happen to be 4 or 5 of the most evil RWNJ on the planet!. If the consumer were to suddenly stop consuming their products and services and demand a "real" progressive alternative to their corporate owned propaganda, you might see slight change. I really don't see the average media consumer changing their 24/7 news cycle habits in the near future, therein lies the true problem with society today.

(7,393 posts)It's why conservatives are 'allowed' to lie, cheat, steal, murder, sell out the nation and betray everything it stands for.
Becasue they're the 'good' people.
The percentage of Stupid is strong with us, and the Pirates lie too well.
Let's hope we don't have to pay the traditional price.

(32,633 posts)It was Charles and David Koch and a secret network of extremely wealthy Americans who got together in 2009 when Obama was inaugurated. They made plans to destroy his Presidency and his career by using their incredible wealth to "buy" Congress and shut down as much of the government as they could. Of course it eventually led us to Trump but I'm still in the 2009/10 years where they're planning the conspiracy.
This book is terrifying, and it's something every American should read.

(15,411 posts)I'd never warn Republicans if they were doing something that was hurting their party. And I find my self hoping Dems don't do something stupid. I'd tell them too if I were a pooh bah or knew any pooh bahs.

(32,682 posts)to be our focus, etc. The double standard is so glaring. They don't even think to dictate what rethugs like McConnell and Ryan "better do" to stay in power.
I was thinking about this pattern after the election and I'm wondering if it's because many talking heads are democrats who inadvertently inject their 2cents and worries into the conversation? That could potentially explain why they don't have similar advice and demands when it comes to rethugs in power.

(7,142 posts)Al Franken was one, Ted Kennedy, Beto and AOC can do it, even Avenatti changed the narrative.
Give me 1,000 Auntie Maxines over 1 __________, you fill in the blank, I won't speak ill of any Democrat.
There were people on msnbc who were changing the narrative; K. Olbermann, Ed Schultz, Martin Brashear, Dylan Ratigan. They all were popular when msnbc fired them.

(45,427 posts)They don't do much of anything that's useful anyway, just obstruct.
Dems will manage to investigate and legislate. GOP will obstruct as much as they can and Trump will veto it.

(33,321 posts)TV fits everything in between commercials and thus presents mere snippets of sensationalism. Most 'cable' news follows the same pattern as broadcast. There are few tv programs that try to give any background or context.
Online, you have Washington Post, NYT, Vox, Motherjones, democracynow.org, The Atlantic, The Guardian, independent.co.uk, NY Daily News, Buzzfeed, GQ, NY Mag, Newsweek, Wired, Slate, and lots and lots of regional 'papers'.
TV gives you video; if it's used to promote controversy, it's not helpful and should not be sustained by your dollars.

(2,389 posts)We're held to a higher standard because it is expected that republicans will not compromise, will use dirty tactics, will cheat, will lie, and will put party loyalty above all else.
The Benghazi Committee took what, a year and a half? Millions of dollars spent, Wednesday Wine Club, engraved glasses, talk of forming a gun club. That is who the republicans are.

(7,142 posts)Flip channels and look for similar words and phrases. The narrative now is Dems are going to overreach. That narrative is of course bs.
Dems have a lot of catching up to do to expose all of the treasonous Republicans.

(14,274 posts)If they accuse a Democrat of something, you can bet your bottom dollar that it is a Republican who is the one actually doing it. By proactively accusing your opponent of doing something you are guilty of, it makes it appear you are being retaliated against if the truth comes out.
If they give advice to Democrats, it is the opposite of what should be done and reveals their insecurities and fears.
