Aaahhh: Barbara Boxer
Barbara Boxer (@BarbaraBoxer)
12/31/18, 7:01 AM Can’t wait to see @NancyPelosi sworn in as Speaker. Dems will pass a bill to reopen the government. Then it is up to Mitch McConnell to pass it. If Trump wants to continue his shutdown, he will veto it. Then Congress can override & we can start functioning like grownups again. Download the Twitter app

3. The Democrats should also consider passing legislation in the House right away that
resets into place the ACA penalty.
#1 it nips that current ruling an asshole judge made in the bud. #2 it puts the Repugnant senators butts in the fire. And if its voted down by them or Trump vetoes it they should keep doing it again and again just like the Repugnants kept trying to repeal it all the way up to the election. |

16. YES. The ACA needs to be fixed - AND secured.
Otherwise too many Americans are going to get screwed. And they’ll wait til their own personal Doomsday for the GOP to make good in it’s FAKE “promise” to “repeal and replace.”
They’ll NEVER quite manage to get to the “and replace” part, after they do a repeal. Why? Because THEY DON’T BELIEVE IT’S THE GOVERNMENT’S JOB TO DO THINGS LIKE INTERVENING TO HELP PEOPLE. And YES I shouted that. They DO NOT believe that government should be in the business of helping people. Only killing people. Killing yes. Helping? NO!!! They’re okay with blowing every nickel we’ve got on guns ‘n’ ammo and bombs and fighter jets and warships and shit. But everything else? No! That’s an unnecessary expense. A waste of taxpayers’ money. They just don’t believe government is and can be a force for good! Just a force. A military force. That’s why they hate The New Deal, and have hated it since the FDR days! DECADES ago!!! That’s why they hate the ACA, because it doesn’t buy bombs. Nothing in it about power and guns and domination. It helps people. Especially people in need. People like Jesse cared about and hung out with and made a priority. And preached that everybody else should make the poor a priority too. They don’t want to have to pay taxes on public support programs, because the poor and needy are really lazy moochers and it’s their own damn fault. Thing is, though, Jesus never said anything like that about the poor and needy. THEY were His favorites. And He turned His back to the rich and the well-positioned and the powerful and the haves and have-mores and the already-comfortables. He turned His back on that bunch to hang out with the poor and needy. And the sick and homeless and outcast. And advocate for THEM. And the most ostentatiously “pious” among those have-mores will claim they’re more Christian-than-thou. But they haven’t taken the real Christian message to heart. I guess maybe they think they’re covered as long as they’re against “babykillers.” |
