Now that the balance of power has shifted, I wouldn't be surprised at all if a sizable GOP contingent in the Senate vote to override.

Those in tough districts can vote for it and demonstrate their good intent, but Trump still wins.

If a clean bill to end the shutdown comes from the House on a veto-proof majority and McConnell refuses to bring it to the floor, especially if 20 Republicans will vote for it, it will become the Trump-McConnell Shutdown. Mitch McConnell is NOT going to accept any of the blame for government employees' losing their homes because Trump has decided they don't need to be paid.

Most of the repugs in the senate hate this jerk, but as long as he gives them what they want (judges, l-o-n-g term judges who will rule us for at least a generation or longer) he's their boy and they will support him.
The ends justify the means.
