11. I don't know. I think you all are falling for their ploy.

The only things I’ve heard from any legitimate Dem whether here or elsewhere re so-called “identity politics” are: we can do many things at the same time. The disagreements usually center on social vs economic justice and are wrapped in what strikes many of us as a false either-or construct.

12. If that's all you've heard, you haven't been paying attention.

Because that’s NOT what certain Democrats - here or elsewhere - are saying at all.

For example, telling Democrats that making an effort to reach out to minorities or to seriously consider putting a woman or person of color on the ticket is “identity politics” has nothing to do with an ideological disagreement about economic equality versus racial justice. And insisting that we should go with a white man in 2020 in order to attract white working class voters is an appeal to racism, not a call to do many things at once.

Both of these are common refrains n DU and elsewhere.

13. I have never seen comments to that/those

Effect(s) myself. I have seen comments by individuals that say they don’t believe in supporting a woman or a person of color over a white male simply because the petson is a woman or person of color is appropriate. I agree with that sentiment, but would readily vote for a woman or person of color in the primary if I believe she/he is the best candidate. ... Maybe some have made the statements you indicated, but as I said I haven’t read anything like that here. If they are out there, I would suspect their legitimacy as progressives or even real democrats, and would guess they are trolls.

Having said all that, I will certainly consider and even change my view on this if you can provide any evidence or if you can alert me to any future instances. Until then, I have to with what I’ve seen.

3. I try to be heard above the choir

It's not about gender, although they will use this when they can. It's not about race, although they will also use this when they can. It's about Republican bias in the corporate owned and controlled media (I can't even use the term conservative bias any longer, as there's no longer anything conservative about the Republican Party...it's one hundred percent reactionary).

6. While that is true, race is what they *use* to control the GOP sheep.

The GOP would never outright say what their true goal is...

7. I like your last sentence in parenthesis. Finally, someone is speaking my language

For the first year I thought it was just the Rump and his deplorables, but now they are all onboard the bullshittery train. And there ain't nuthin' "conservative" about it.

5. I wonder which "Democrat" (cough cough) defined the term "identity politics" and made it an issue?
