Here's Nancy Pelosi's plan to corner Trump and trap Mitch McConnell using his own legislation

In less than 24 hours, Nancy Pelosi will be sworn in as Speaker of the House. And her first immediate challenge will be how to break President Donald Trump’s childish federal government shutdown over his border wall.

As it turns out, Pelosi has the perfect plan to trap Trump and the Senate GOP.

On Wednesday, flanked by incoming House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Pelosi told reporters the first thing her House would do:

In other words, Pelosi plans to introduce and pass the same funding bill that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) shepherded through the Senate by voice vote two weeks ago — which happens to not include funding for Trump’s wall!

By passing this bill in the Senate but blocking it in the House on Trump’s order, Republicans boxed themselves in. They cannot easily claim that their own bill they just voted for in the Senate is soft on border security. Nor can they pin the blame on Pelosi for not retaking up the alternative House bill that included Trump’s wall funding, because that bill was rejected by the Senate.

All that's left is for her to give him a way to save face. It's the last move of a successful negotiator.

Trump can claim victory and his base will believe it. They also believe in Bigfoot, caravans, and kidnap facilities under pizza kitchens.

13. But McConnell said he isn't going to take up any bill that doesn't include Trump's ransom

money. That includes the first bill the Senate voted for that didn't include wall funding for Trump. So what happens next after the Senate rejects the House bill - how Speaker Pelosi reacts and subsequent reactions from Trump & Rethugs - is going to be entertaining.

14. It looks like McConnell is falling into the trap, too.

He's announced he's not going to allow the Senate to vote on that legislation once the House passes.

The best thing? It looks like Pelosi and the other Dem leaders in the House will be able to get some real media play on Republican obstructionism.

If our folks play their cards right, this shutdown will cost the Republicans big time, and it looks like our people are going to revamp the rule about automatically raising the debt ceiling when they pass a budget, which will lessen the likelihood of the government being shut down in future.

In the meantime, Trump is squirming like the fleshy maggot he is.

15. Pelosi will win this fight easily,

And trump and McConnell will lose even more republican Senator's in 2020 the longer this trump shutdown continues. Trump keeps tweeting and talking is only making it worse, plus all the additional corruption being exposed, and they have zero chance of winning this battle. The American people will not react to their taking the government hostage by voting a lot more of them out.

16. It's a great move because the bill passed the Senate unanimously

So that means every Republican Senator was for the bill before they were suddenly (less than 2 weeks) against it.

What changed? This needs to be the first question everyone in the media asks each Republican Senator. "Senator, what has changed in the passed two weeks?"
