Seems like no way to end it. Both sides vowing not to give in. How do you see the end game playing out?

(50,255 posts)The cog in the wheel is Mitch McConnell. If the whole air transportation system is grounded, surely he'll put bills they've passed before up for a vote.
When the wealthy Republicans and corporations start losing serious money, someone will need to go to The Donald and tell him to find a way to end this.
Damn, but I wish we knew who had Mitch by the short and curlies to explain his behavior. He could end this now by bringing the House bill up for a vote. #45 says he won't open the government without wall money, and the Dems say no wall money. Rock and hard place. And now today we find out the wall was just a mnemonic to remind Donald to rail against immigrants at his rallies.
Geez - this is nuts!

(15,682 posts)Who thought Donald would forget he hates brown skinned immigrants? And who came up with the wall as the mnemonic device to remind him?

(3,344 posts)Trump will desperately come up with some "compromise" that is really a cave but he'll call it a compromise to save embarrassment.
If that doesn't happen I think enough Republicans will override his veto and reopen government.

(4,463 posts)Especially now that Dems have passed a bill to end it.
Let the days go by at airports without TSA screeners, without proper maintenance and communications personnel, without air traffic controllers getting paid. Parts of the judiciary cannot function, the parks are struggling with human waste...etc
Tax returns will not be forthcoming , hurting his supporters they say...
My point is that the pressure will build....the public wont stand for it.

(15,078 posts)because even if 99 Senators agree to vote for opening up the government, if the Majority Leader refuses to bring it up for a vote, it's toast. I believe that Mitch will maximize the damage in the next two years and then retire. Other than the fact that he is a raging ass hole, I still don't understand why he is behaving this way.

(7,627 posts)Some of the proposals Pelosi and Schumer have proposed had been overwhelmingly passed before by the Senate. Trump will veto it but the Senate can override.
