Roma has won 3 Golden Globes so far.

Perhaps a message from the Golden Globes to the nationalists of this country?

Don't get me wrong. That film is glorious, and it is sad it couldn't be up for Best Picture. It deserves everything it wins. I think it was only up for these three (screenplay, foreign language film, and director).

Yeah. I realize it was the "foreign language film" category that made the decision. Cuthbert Allgood Jan 2019 #6

But, again, it's a fantastic film, and I have no intention to take anything away from it with this thought.

Interested to see what the Oscars do with it.

and probably will nominated in that category, as well as in Best Foreign Film category.

The oddity will not be being nominated in the Best Picture category, even though it is not an English-language film, but that it was released by Netflix on streaming (as well as in theaters).

Roma totally deserved every award it won tonight because of its cinematic virtues. That it is set in Mexico City among working class (and bourgeois) characters is a bonus.

I also read that Netflix and Cuaron were not going to put it in theatres, but ultimately decided to so they could go to festivals. I think the Academy and other award organizations need to get over the theatre part and recognize that streaming is a thing that is here to stay. The Golden Globes doesn't make the TV shows be on broadcast channels.
