I propose the following

Congress should pass Assley’s bill to automatically continue funding in the event spending bills are held up. With the following additions;

Senators and Representatives worth more than $100000 shall be paid Federal minimum wage for the entire time they don’t provide funding for the government.

Companies worth more than a set amount shall pay a $10000 surcharge for each airline ticket they purchase for business travel. I’m thinking mid size to large companies.

Individuals with a net worth of more than $1000000 shall also pay a $1000 surcharge in airline tickets.

I’m thinking if the squeeze gets put on such businesses and individuals maybe Mitch and his GOP Trump enablers Wong be so quick to turn to shutdowns.

1. All federal elected officials get NO pay during a shutdown.
2. Any unpaid federal worker is allowed to discriminate against a federal elected official when working in their official capacity.
3. Federal elected officials may not accept any gifts or payments during the shutdown.

The Assley 's bill is sufficient. Adding poorly crafted measures to make it sound tougher will only guarantee it would be rejected outright. I will be happy if they pass a bill that at least guarantees that federal employees and contractors cant be used as a bargaining chip as they are right now. Automatically reconduct funding at current levels until they vote a new appropriation. This would end the practice of government shutdowns.
