Trump's Weird Paradox - His Shutdown Affects Border Security

One of the organization that is shut down and unable to pay its employees is the Department of Homeland Security. Among the responsibilities of that organizations is ICE and the Border Patrol. The Coast Guard, too, can't pay its employees, either, nor can any of them pay their private contractors, on which they depend for so much of their functions.

What does that mean? Well, ICE is in charge of immigration. The Border Patrol is in charge of, well, protecting our borders. The Coast Guard spends much of its time these days guarding against illegal immigration, too, along with drug smugglers, etc. So, Trump claims to care about all those things, but is refusing to fund them, so a guy has to wonder whether he really gives a damn or not.

I think not.
