In fact, McConnell may do this because it would give him alot of control, and yet still have much of the pomp and such. It would be interesting though to figure out how all the cabinet would fit.

There are two choices, in writing or in person at the Speakers request. It's the Speakers House, her invitation, her rules.

The constitution only requires Donnie to deliver a report to Congress. A live speech to a joint session is a comparatively recent tradition and not at all a requirement.

He can give a speech to the senate and the transcript will suffice in terms of his official delivery of the report to Congress.

He could satisfy the Constitutional requirement by sending the speech in writing to Pelosi and McConnell and still deliver it in the Senate Chamber at the invite of McConnell. Or he could deliver it from the Oval Office. Or at a partisan rally.

Frankly, I think he'd be overjoyed not to have any Democrats (let alone nearly 300) in the room sitting on their hands during his speech.

and so far, the media coverage makes it seem as though it's only going to get worse for donnie as it drags on.

but it is certainly possible that they find a way to have the traditional state of the union speech. pelosi is just making sure that donnie will have to give some sort of concession before it happens. maybe not a complete fix, but something.

McConnell is that much of a POS, and 45 would get off on it - remember when he held his own press conference and blew off a debate to make a point during the primary?

As someone else noted, I am sure he would rather not have to have Pelosi sitting behind him and a majority of Dems in the House not gushing over him ...
