Speaker Pelosi isn't asking Trump to postpone the SOTU, she's effectively telling him it's postponed

Jennifer Bendery @jbendery 8m8 minutes ago
This Pelosi move feels like classic Pelosi. Makes a public, formal request to the president to postpone SOTU. Tees it up politely. But really, she's not asking. She controls if or when SOTU happens. This is gonna drive Trump crazy.

Don't have to believe me. Look up the history and protocols of the SOTU.

SoH sends an invite - or not - to the president for a speaking address before Congress.

Otherwise, a president can write a letter.

Pelosi has protocol on her side. It's her call.

Good on her!

We all know the SOTU is in shambles. He would have had to lie about it. In a way - Pelosi is doing Trump a favor for postponing it for him.

If the government is still shutdown by the time of the SOTU - I wonder what Trump's poll numbers will be down to by then anyway.

What's he going to say? The Government shutdown is the Democratic Party's fault. I am so tired of trump and his antics. I fear he is going to do total damage to our country.

People generally don't like their television viewing to be interrupted by the SOTU address. The only ones who will be upset are the hardcore Trump supporters. Who don't matter in this case anyway.

a) She should apply every ounce of it now.
b) She should apply maximum pressure to all of them now.
c) She should snap her fingers now.
Every day that passes we lose more and more hard-won environmental protections which are the result of decades-long battles.
When this farcical shutdown is over, everybody better (sogotp) fast before he comes up with some more nonsense.
