(68,543 posts)She is a fine Senator, but president? I don't know. She also plans to reach out to Trump voters. I think we state our case and if they follow they follow. I would of course vote for any Democratic candidate in a general.

(4,187 posts)is not enough. We saw how that played out in 2016. So please, refrain from attacking Democratic candidates. Period.

(13,340 posts)I was not impressed with how she handled the Franken issue. For me, it's enough that I will not vote for her in the primary. I would support her in the General, but I cannot make myself feel any enthusiasm for her. I intend to support the candidates that I do feel enthusiasm for.
I think she will fade very early in any case, so probably not a concern.

(68,543 posts)whoever is the nominee gets my vote in a general. We were talking primary. As for 16, I vote for the Democratic nominee as I always do so I play no role in the debacle of 16. Have a nice evening.

(3,259 posts)What's going to be tough, and it will be tough for more than just Gillibrand, is that we are hearing names that have an enormous amount of ideological overlap.
Gillibrand: First Senator to issue a Sunlight Report containing official schedule, personal financial disclosures, and earmark request. They can all be found online. She also releases her taxes annually.

(11,544 posts)We surely could have used Franken's questioning abilities, yesterday, at the Barr hearing.

(4,187 posts)Go ahead and attack Democrats for not being pure and perfect enough for you. How bad could another four years of Trump be?

(42,862 posts)It has nothing to do with "purity" and everything to do with the judgement being demonstrated. All I'm saying is that this is a valid and reasonable thing for voters to consider and discuss. It serves no good purpose for anyone to try an silence that type of debate with absurd characterizations and comparisons.

(6,143 posts)But we shouldn't focus on solely one issue or incident and consider a person's whole record instead. Like any other politician there are good things and bad things in her record. Frankly, I doubt her campaign will last through the end of the year. There are much more exciting Dems out there.

(7,596 posts)I know it's frowned upon to call a female candidate that, but the shoe simply fits in this instance.
Aside from the tacky way she used Franken's downfall to prop herself up, she also threw the Clintons, two people who helped launch her political career, under the bus and then went back on her word (which she made like two months ago) to serve out her full senate term.
She can "search" for another career choice.

(7,596 posts)Why do you always overlook that part? If an investigation have revealed more serious, credible accusations, it would have been perfectly reasonable for her or anybody to call for his resignation. That obviously didn't happen.
From my perspective of that debacle, she was showboating and exploiting the problems of one of her Senate colleagues to make a name for herself. That immediately turned me off from her. I don't think anything you can say will change my mind on that.

(6,143 posts)is not a finding of guilt or innocence. It just determines if congressional ethnics rules had been violate. Plus to you really think the republicans on that committee would have been fair to Franken? They would have turned it into a circus to humiliate him.
As far as your accusations, do you have any proof that support them?
And a bit of advice, never keep a closed mind about anything. Things are not as black and white as they seem sometime and as progressives we should always be willing to learn something new, even about issues we thought we knew everything about.
Have a good day?

(6,143 posts)Iowa or New Hampshire. Nothing against her, just don't think she can generate the same excitement that a Warren or Harris can. Sort of like John Glen back in the 80s.
