House Democrat: Kavanaugh Will 'Likely' Be Investigated for Perjury

Rep. Joe Neguse (D., Colo.) said Friday that the House Judiciary Committee will “likely” investigate perjury charges against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

Joe Neguse, a freshman member of the Judiciary Committee, made the comments to a group of his constituents on Friday. He said that he was very concerned about perjury claims against Kavanaugh and that his committee may take steps to impeach him depending on their findings.

“There’s no question Kavanaugh committed perjury during the confirmation hearings and so forth,” Neguse said when asked if he planned to pursue Kavanaugh’s impeachment. “I think the Judiciary Committee is likely to take that up.”
<snip>

Neguse’s comments apparently are consistent with comments on the same topic made by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler (D., N.Y.). It was reported that Nadler had also discussed the possibility of impeaching Kavanaugh days after the midterm elections. - PoliticusUSA

however, while there's this dubious constitutional argument that a sitting president can't be indicted, no one has ever suggested that a sitting supreme court justice can't be indicted.

it would be very interesting if he's impeached but not removed, and then indicted and convicted.

foxnews has told them the party line is that he wasn't even at the same party or whatever.

she's the one who lied because women just love to lie on national television so they can get as many death threats as possible with zero upside, while kavanaugh would never lie when life tenure to the dream job of a lifetime is in the offing....

The problem in this country is not the media -- Fox or any other -- it's the stupid, hateful people who choose to listen to that stuff. If Fox or Limbaugh were not on the air, the hatred and ignorance would still exist.

the bigoted fringe should be treated as fringe elements. ignored and shunned. they won't go away any time soon, but if treated with the ick-factor they deserve, they would quickly fade into political irrelevance.

the first of many steps is to get the rest of the msm to stop talking about foxnews as if it was merely a legitimate new station, or even a merely conservative news station. it's a radical, right-wing propaganda network. they are not interested in promulgating new facts, they are only interested in catapulting the right-wing propaganda.

the legitimate new media should treat them as such and characterize them as such if they pay attention to them at all.

though a lot of that was kavanaugh hanging himself with his horrendous behavior. i mean, perjury aside, what job applicant for *any* job repeatedly insists, "i like beer!"

well, ok, if the job is in beer sales, i suppose....

i was thinking more generally. i think the media needs to be more dismissive of foxnews. they don't deserve anything close to the level of respect they get.

but across the board.

I've been doing legal research on the penalties for perjury for about six months. Hardly anyone ever is held accountable for lying in court, which is why Kavanaugh did so, seemingly with impunity.

The ability to lie in court without fear of being held accountable is probably one of the biggest generators of legal fees out there, which will give you one reason it is largely ignored.

Today jurors are such poor listeners and critical thinkers that they can't detect the inconsistencies, even when clearly pointed out to them by an attorney during the trial.

I am very pleased to hear he will be investigated. The Dems did a great job of disgracing him when it was well known that the republicans would put him through regardless of peoples' feelings. Now he needs to be finished off and out of the public arena, even as a federal judge anywhere.

If not, I wonder what the difference is between Joe Neguse and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez that would allow him to skate by conservative criticism while being such an outspoken freshman House member?

Think, think. What could it possibly be???

Although I also understand the need to pick our battles. Because you just know that if this is tried, the Fox Noise machine will go off the scales. So if we are also set on impeaching the President at the same time, it will be a full on screech fest across every right wing media outlet about a coup by the Deep State. And plus I'm sure more conservative pundits on the other MSM news networks will also join in.

And that may seal the fate for the Democrats actually winning back the Senate, in order to complete the impeachment process for either of them.

But its a gamble. Imagine the payoff if voters will only support the Democrats efforts. It could even turn out, if everything goes right, and the Democrats take the Senate, House and Presidency in 2020. I think this is possible IF there is a significant percent of top R's that are guilty of working with Putin for cash. Removal of Kavanaugh, Trump gone, a President Harris, or Biden, or Sanders(!), with a new pick to replace Kavanaugh, and then perhaps Ruth Bader Ginsburg retires gracefully, and we get to replace her with a younger, more progressive judge. Can't do much about Gorsuch, but it could look a whole lot better.
