A Texas Judge Interrupts A Deliberating Jury To Claim That God Told Him The Defendant Is Not Guilty.

A Texas judge interrupts a deliberating jury to claim that God told him the defendant is not guilty.

In Texas, Comal County Judge Jack Robison tried to convince a jury that a defendant was not guilty because God told him so.

By invoking an imaginary conversation with an imaginary God, Judge Robison was trying to “sway jurors to return a not guilty verdict in the trial of a Buda woman accused of trafficking a teen girl for sex.”

According to the Herald-Zeitung in New Braunfels, Judge Jack Robison apologized to jurors for the interruption, but defended his actions by declaring:

When God tells me I gotta do something, I gotta do it.

5. As a Texan that lives near the area, I can tell you it will not end anytime soon.

There are lots of people in this part of the planet that live in an alternate universe. I suspect it will probably a generational change that will probably result in some sanity. Sadly I am too old to witness it.

9. You obviously hate Oklahoma so why not move?

When I lived there I met several people like you who moved from the upper Midwest and put it down all the time, even though many places where you come from have as many bigots and crazies. Why not move? You post on a regular basis about how all those who live in Oklahoma are such terrible people. There are many good people there. I would say either try to get to know them or move. If I hated a place as much as you do I would move.

10. Do you have jobs for both of us?

Yes, right now I do. I still feel we can make a difference, it gets more bleak all the time, but I do feel we can change hearts and minds of young people. There are some good people here, but if you love it so much why don't you move back?

11. No but a job didn't keep me in a place I didn't like

I moved from Illinois becasue I didn't like it. There were people there I didn't like but I didn't judge them as a group. But I didn't want to stay in Illinois when I retired so I moved to Arizona. I considered moving to Norman - and might still because of finances. It's not a matter of I "love it so much" - it's a matter of judging an entire state of people even if the majority are red state people. That's what the other side does. Yes there are crazies and overly religious peope and bigots in Oklahoma, just as there are in many parts of Illinois (ask a black person from Chicago if they ever encountered racism or go to downstate where I lived where it is more like Kentucky). Those type people are in every place but you seem to think that's all that live in Oklahoma and that is simply not true.

3. He should be removed from office immediately

A judge cannot do that. If he thought there was no evidence on which a jury could convict, then the judge could dismiss the case on motion from defense counsel.
However, he did not do that. He actually told a case pending before a jury to return a verdict of not guilty. Unbelievable. Did he graduate from law school?

BTW, did you notice the name of the paper, Herald-Zeitung? Zeitung is a German word. Has anyone in Texas demanded that they use English? I think they would if the Spanish word was used.

6. Why does religion make people...

...lose their minds?

This, even tho a year old, is appallingly wrong.

8. Well you would think

God would just tell the Jurors. Why did he need to tell the judge?

15. I gotta say.

If God told me to do something I would probably do it. I doubt I would be clear headed enough to go to a psychiatrist.
