An odd aspect of abortion is that it has saved the ultra-conservatives, electorally.
Most of the 55 million fetuses aborted would have been born into homes that are primarily liberal and democratic. That means about 25 million (!) more likely democratic voters from 1973 to 2000.

17. I knew him, he was a very good man

He told me once about a patient. He left out most identifying information but he was just heartbroken over her. She was 11. Had been repeatedly raped by her older, teen, brother and become pregnant. She didn't understand, truly, what was happening to her body and it was the second trimester before everyone figured it out. She was so young, so tiny that her health and future fertility was on the line if she didn't have an abortion - not to mention her mental health.

I remember he said she literally was still playing with dolls in an attempt to understand what was happening to her.
