"the president" should pardon Reality Winner.
Show us how hard you are on russia. Commute the sentence. She's done more time than most of these conspirators...combined.
***Plus, her name is so ironic. For him.

2. Why would he?
And while I don't she should get like 20 years or whatever, her actions were shockingly dumb and she can stew in prison a little longer, imo

8. In "blowing the whistle" we're damn lucky she didn't taint the entire probe
Nevermind the fact that the only reason why she "blew the whistle" was because she fell for Glenn Greenwald's trollbait agitprop about #KremlinGate not being a real thing and wanted to prove him wrong (and to show their gratitude, the amateur hour hacks at the Intercept hung her out to dry).
Oh, and for the record, if Winner was a "whistleblower" she wouldn't be locked up since she'd have legal protection. Unfortunately for her, telling the world how far and which avenues the #KremlinGate investigation had gone was neither an example of wrongdoing nor was it something with an immediate public interest. The term you're looking for with Winter is "NatSec Leaker"... Look, I get that her heart was in the right place and I can appreciate that she wanted to expose Greenwald and the rest of his denialist crowd as a bunch of dishonest frauds. (And for the record, Glenn was so happy to have his first real NatSec Leaker with an explosive story since Snowden that he went on his podcast with Scahill and did everything he could to lowkey discredit and downplay its significance... All because she fucked with his "#KremlinGate is a myth created by a sour grapes Hillary" -narrative). Don't get me wrong, I do want to see her freed because she had good intentions despite being hopelessly naive, and at the end of the day it was the criminal negligence the two reporters at the Intercept (displaying a level of professionalism you wouldn't even find at a high school paper) that made it so easy for the Feds to capture Winner. But it's all moot because Trump isn't doing it anyway. |

9. You hit it right on the head.
NatSec Leaker. Now. Hows all that square w the PBD and the 30+ unsecured eyes on it everyday for the last 2+ years? How's that securing us? I wanted her punished, but, we are a fair and forgiving nation. She did time. She ruined her life. She served her country in the military before she worked for the NSA I think. (I haven't done a write up on her.) Having said that,
Just seems w what we are finding out about the PDB and the lying on security clearances etc, that the NatSec sector of govt would use the same tenor and ire when it comes down to our Intelligence products that are being bartered with (by some reports.) by the trum family. We don't know of course, bc jareds still on the loose. I wonder what Khoshoogi would say about the PDB being so open for untrained eyes? There were reports when he was dismembered that it was a result of some chicanery by jared to curry favor w MBS. We have an obvious(?) and ongoing NatSec leaker...where's the outrage? If the intel is important enough to jail Reality...it's important enough to jail jared and don sr and everyone else. Intel is a very very serious business...and the rules apply to everyone it would seem. At the end of the day, the American people develop the intel and keep it secret, and we above all...pay for it. It's not a commodity for jared to be sticking his unsecured beak into, and I thought in relation to Reality, it may be coming increasingly, unfair. |

4. I'd say commute her sentence
But pardoning her without also pardoning Chelsea Manning would be total bullshit.

5. I understand ya. But, Jared just looks at the PDB and sells the info...and supposedly
30+ others get eyes on The Nations Top Intel...everyday, who can' even get a security clearance. The story was she was trying to warn America that the Reds were coming. Commuting the sentence is fine too. Either way, out of jail. The sentences these russians are getting for subverting Our Nations Government are in the months.(the lawyer, a few months...and 2 weeks for Popadouplous(sp0 a matter of years for Manfort and Cohen)..it just seems in the name of equity, she should be released.

7. Right on.
The honest thing to do would be to think it over again. It was just a suggestion. Whole lot of damage has happened bc of the Red interference.
