Didn't DU usually have an election forum as one approached? (Original Post) Grasswire2 Jan 2019 OP
Not this early. That may happen later on, though. MineralMan Jan 2019 #1

Trump is a unique and existential threat to our democracy. Ridding ourselves of him must be our first priority. Can't wait for the election. He must be stopped now. And we must lend support to those who are doing the work of that process.

I don't see following the investigations and posting important material as promotion. If only we had a way to separate the one from the other.

A problem to that end is the very real spectacle of the clownish distraction he provides. It's a lot of fun to mock the stupidity and the dotardish aspect. I participate in that, too, admittedly. This makes clutter on DU, though.

Was a great place to post A.F. Branco cartoons and breathlessly repeat stuff Joe DiGenova said on the TV. <sarcasm>

Anyway, too early for that, as MM notes. I expect it will be more positive this time.

There will be some who are just here to disrupt and exploit differences. Bank on it. We are a juicy target.

It does help with forums/groups for each viable candidate is good as it keeps GD a bit cleaner. What the problem is the contentiousness between our members as the primaries get closer. I have been through several presidential seasons here at DU.
