Howard Schultz is on The View saying the Medicare for All is free.

Free government healthcare. I took that to mean that no one who would have to pay into Medicare premiums.

I always thought that we would have to pay some premium or extra taxes, but it would still be much less than private insurance.

Am I wrong? How would he get such an idea?

I'm adding this.

He just said the important issues are not abortion or race but financial security.

Now, we know where this guy is coming from, in my opinion.

16. Health Insurance at Starbucks

They do offer health care for part and full time employees. Maybe not the best in the world, but for a non traditional college student that can't work 40 hours a week its a life saver.

7. Medicare is NOT FREE

Fortunately, I have lived long enough to end up on Medicare. I pay approximately $350 per month for all three parts (including drug coverage). This guy is a Class A Moron. This comment of his is up there with needing an ID to buy groceries.

That said, if we were all able to pay our insurance premiums into a Medicare program and then be well covered, it could be a very sustainable program. Not everything is covered, but Medicare doesn't have a profit margin on top of the care costs. And their administrative costs are very low.

10. You hit on all the other items i wanted to quickly add in.

Just one more thing. I pay about the same to have full Medicare coverage, all three programs. And we have both paid into Medicare with every paycheck when we were working.

Thank you for your comment.

Where would the money come from? We all contribute to Medicare through our payroll deductions and then we pay for the coverage when we begin to use it.

Please explain your thoughts to me Joe.

The system is already rigged to help the rich white guys get even richer, and Howard Schultz has worked hard and made a lot of money. But getting into politics just to maintain the rigged system, man that's just evil. We already have too many of those in Washington.

Opposition candidates intentionally mischaracterize our platform and policy positions as "free" to
distort and demean our positions. Its outright lying.

40. It is not subsidized.

Maybe low lifetime earners get some subsidy after a couple of years, but anyone who max out each year put around $120,000+ into the system before drawing a penny. I honestly would like to see high wage earners be able to opt out of drawing benefits and leave the money they put in for others. I really feel that being able to make a lot of money is a privilege that demands that something be given back in return.

28. medicare

He's either stupid or lying. I pay $134 a month for Medicare PLUS $122 a month for supplemental coverage. No one has EVER talked about free medicare. Democrats need to emphasize that when they talk about Medicare for all IT WILL NOT BE FREE..You're still talking $250 a month. So if you have a husband and wife, that's $500 for the both of them. Personally, I think kids should be free until some age. 16? 18? 10? whatever. If you have 2 teenagers plus two adults, that's $1,000 a month if kids are paying as well. And while medicare stays the same (so far) supplemental goes up every year. This is
only my third year on Medicare and the supplemental has gone up from $91 to $122.

And that's no dental or eye. So there's that.

The big thing is prescription dugs. As long as Big Pharma has so much money and influence, that's not going to change. My husband gets two of his drugs from Canada because we either don't have the generic or even the generic is too expensive here.

29. He is running to confuse the voters and protect the 1%

Medicare for all will not be free. Must people would pay a monthly premium, have deductibles and 20% co-pay for health care. Employers would pay $5 per hour up to 40 hours a week for each employee which is cheaper then what they pay now.

41. Howard Schultz is running against the Democratic party

He simply talks about how both sides are bad when it comes to the repubs, but specifically attacks Democratic policies and principles. That means he's far from an independent, he's a republican, period. Doesn't matter what he calls himself.
