That is why so much stuff in the grocery store is shorterm addictive. If you eat 10 chips, food executives have flavorists figure out how to get you to eat the bag, that way next time you buy 2 bags or buy the super-sized much costlier bag.

So you are ok with putting Starbucks workers on the unemployment line? For what? Who is to say the coffee shops that pick up the slack aren't owned by Trump loving rightwingers that have enough sense to serve liberals that they loath coffee and keep their mouths shut about their Trump love?

Hopefully Schultz has someone, a wife, kids, siblings, ect, that are close to him and can do an intervention on his ass. If not, we can't repeat 2000 and 2016, our voters must stay with our nominee to eliminate a greater evil.

It is one thing to have a vision of the perfect. It is another thing entirely to have that vision play out as desired in a society.

There were jobs in coffee shops all over the country before Starbucks and there would be if Starbucks ever went under. The damage that Starbucks did was to put family coffee shops out of business. Same as Walmart and Amazon.

Btw, I decided to stop shopping at Amazon last year and have found everything locally that I used to buy at Amazon. And guess what? There are people working in all those stores I now frequent.

shopping all over the place when you have tendonitis like I do. It’s a painful permanent condition which restricts my physical ability so I shop Amazon, and I also order my larger grocery purchases through Instacart.

So you see, Amazon serves a purpose which makes life easier for handicapped people, but long ago I realized that the needs for handicapped people are non existent for physically fit people, especially if the handicap Isn’t visible.

Look, the man is horrid and I know that even though he is no longer CEO of the company, he still gets money from them. BUT! Jobs aren't easy to come by, even entry level jobs. The people that get service jobs are usually financially insecure where even a week without work means disaster.

Link: https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2019/01/31/howard-schultzs-own-advisers-just-unmasked-his-cynical-game-trump-will-cheer/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.3dd0839de170

The key revelation from The Post is that there is a deliberate method behind Schultz’s devotion of so much of his free-media tour to attacking Democrats. As The Post reports, this represents “a core strategy his advisers have developed in recent months through extensive polling”:

To win a majority of electoral college votes, which Schultz says would be his goal, he would have to ultimately replace the Democratic nominee as the favored choice of voters who do not want Trump to win a second term.

In practice, this has led Schultz to focus far more of his initial fire on Democrats than Trump … He has particularly focused on attacking the Democratic Party’s more-liberal wing.

Any viable route for Schultz requires, first and foremost, an aggressive effort to split the majority of Americans who have already concluded Trump’s presidency is a failure, or worse, a rolling disaster.

The fact that this strategic imperative requires Schultz to make lopsided attacks on Democrats reveals the deep cynicism at the core of his whole argument.
