Here in Wisconsin Aaron Rodgers is a God to us He is a DEM...His Dad is big Hannity/Trump fan YIKES!

Here in Wisconsin Aaron Rodgers is a God to us...He is a DEM and he signed the recall Walker petitition and has backed the NFL protests proudly...so I am in the auto today and Hannity's radio show is on(I listen now and again for my research) and who calls in...Aaron Rodgers's Pop Edward Wesley Rodgers...seems they are real buddy buddy...

So I came home and did a little research on this Dad...we have known there was a rift between Aaron and the rest of the family forever...the brother Jordon was on that Bachelor TV Show and Aaron would not appear with his family...

This is what I found.....

A big part of the rift between Aaron and his family is over politics. For what it's worth, it's no real secret among people who grew up around the family what the issue is, and it's one a lot of people could see coming for a long time.

Their family is about as far right as you can get. Jordan worked on a campaign to prevent gay people from attaining leadership positions at Vanderbilt. Both of the other brothers and their father have made their stance clear on whether gays should be present in a football locker room. None of them make much of a secret they are big Trump fans.

It shouldn't be a surprise that Aaron, who's a far more liberal and for lack of a better word thoughtful guy who's been exposed to many more types of people than the rest of his family, would have an issue with this

Obviously a lot of people can obviously remain close with family/friends they disagree with politically, but I don't know that anyone truly has a sense of how far right wing/evangelical the Rodgers family outside of Aaron is.

And while I don't have any actual information regarding this last part, just knowing the dynamic, I have to assume the family airing their dirty laundry on a reality tv program, and trying to financially capitalize on Aaron's fame without his permission, essentially killed any chance there was of repairing the relationship.

I give special credit to someone who grew up in that environment but became a liberal.

My mom, who I loved dearly, bought into right wing politics hook line and sinker. As far back as I can remember her working for the Goldwater campaign. She never missed an episode of Rush Limbaugh, sent money to Jerry Falwell, tried to tell me what "Drudge" said when we were at dinner. She was a member in good standing of the Hardee's right wing retirees breakfast club. When my sister and I opened up her safe deposit box after she passed from pancreatic cancer, a .38 revolver fell out.

Never once did I believe any of what she was trying to tell me. I didn't really argue with her, I wasn't politically informed enough at the time to do so. But somehow I knew it was all bullshit even then. It sounded like bullshit. In fairness, I had already formed some of my political outlook from the experience of Nixon wanting to send me to die in Vietnam. So I didn't get off to a good start with Republicans and I never trusted them after that.

2. What would Vince Lombardi think?

A man who was way ahead of his time on social issues. Helped pave the way for black athletes in the NFL. His own brother was gay and Lombardi felt there were gay men on his teams and he welcomed them.

The rift in his family was said to be about his relationship with Olivia Munn but I thought it went deeper than that

4. This is the first time I've heard this explanation...

The media always seems to focus on "they don't like his gf" as an explanation. I knew Munn was liberal, so is Danica, so is Aaron. He believes in God but has left fundamentalism behind. Basically he's intelligent and ethical, not overtly political.

His brothers public statements make me nauseous. Didn't know anything about his parents. To his credit, Aaron never airs dirty laundry in public. He's a class act on and off the football field.

5. The area where he grew up is pretty redneck, by Northern California standards

I’m a Chico State grad. The town is beautiful, but the culture there is a little weird, with liberal college students and right-wing locals. It’s an uneasy alliance.

My wife and I had a very uncomfortable talk with my parents about Trump. My dad was one of those “but her emails” people, but I’m pretty sure both my parents voted for Hillary after our talk. I’m sorry Aaron Rodgers has it harder than that, but I respect him for standing up to his family, and for not flipping to the Republicans just because he’s rich.

10. Education. Rodgers went to a good school in a city nm

I’d bet a donut that if Rodgers had lived in Chico/Sacto his whole life (where he went to high school), he’d be a con brainwashed by Hannity too.

But he went to a good school for college. That makes a big difference.
