Northam should and likely will resign.

I live in Virginia and see the writing on the wall.

5. Because the NAACP called on him to and African Americans give over 90% of their votes to our party.

They are 13% of the population but accounted for more than one in every four votes Hillary Clinton received.

And it was offensive.

9. I knew in 1984 that dressing like that was outrageous

It was 1984, not 1954. And he wasn't a kid.

12. True, I can't believe the school would have allowed it in 1984

2. I literally feel nauseated

reading comments here.. People making the case that he does not need to resign. It hurts my heart and turns my stomach in knots.

4. I wouldn't be surprised either way

and from my viewing it's not a matter of ego or obstinance with him. He just may serve it out.

6. Who would take his place? And who would be overseeing next year's elections?

?? A gop/trump-sycophant?

8. I disagree.

His record shows that he is progressive. It is clear in his younger years, he was quite reprehensible. This is true.
A man who calls for the removal of Confederate Statues is clearly not a racist.
People changed and Northam has.

11. I think that it is entirely appropriate to

look at someone's record on the issues that may surround a belief that they carry forward from such poor judgments in the past. Who has not made such errors in their own lives? It is what they have done with those mistakes that is important in their redemption. I have no knowledge of Gov. Northam's record in these matters, but it appears to me that many are just willing to condemn without looking at their actual behavior since such errors. This is the rush to judgment that we must be careful with and it is something that we as rational and emphatic human beings should avoid.

13. He won't be able to govern effectively. He'll be a distraction. He has to resign.

And that reality will sink in soon.
