The record dates back to 1880, when it became possible to collect consistent, reliable temperatures around the planet. the biggest crisis our planet is experiencing. It may already be too late, but they don't care because jebus is going to come back and rapture all the good holy republicans, and send all democrats to the fiery pits of hell. 
That's the way they think anyway. They will no longer need this planet because they'll all be floating on fluffy clouds, playing harps.
