(146,281 posts)here in St. Paul, MN. About 6" or so. I'm hoping we get a break. I've run the snowblower more days than not for the past couple of weeks. I'm tired of it a little, I guess.
A Snow Emergency notice has gone out in St. Paul, so the plows will be out tonight and tomorrow.

(11,794 posts)It's got heated handles!
MineralMan
(146,281 posts)But I have good gloves. Right now, they're sitting in front of a heat register. Today's blowing will take about 40 minutes, I suppose. Tomorrow, though, I'll have to fire it up again to get the lump at the end of the driveway after the plow goes by.
For old 73-year-old geezers like me, a two-stage snowblower is an essential tool. I'm not shoveling. Nope!
Glamrock
(11,794 posts)Two stage is the way to go. I've got an 80' driveway with 5' retaining walls at the bottom. Yeah, I'm not shoveling either!
MineralMan
(146,281 posts)No walls, though, except for the growing piles of snow alongside it.
I also do four houses worth of city sidewalks, since I have the only snowblower, but that's a walk in the park, really.
It's not that big a deal, really, but I hate having snow blown in my face, and the wind is blowing today. I'll have to alter my pattern to minimize that.
Glamrock
(11,794 posts)Those retaining walls cause wind shifts like you wouldn't believe. I usually come in the house lokking like the bumble!
MineralMan
(146,281 posts)is now in another place. Not too wet, the snow, so I could run the snowblower on one of its higher forward speeds and throw the snow a good long way. So, that's done. Whew!
I have a big full beard, and come back in the house with icicles hanging off of it. My wife always laughs at the sight. I have to admit that it's a funny look, for sure. Then, it's her job to go sop up the puddles from the snow I tracked in. That's our agreement. I go outside and operate the machinery. She kicks an old towel around on the floor. Fair trade!
Very fair indeed!
