I'm of two minds here. Help me out!

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by DonViejo (a host of the General Discussion forum).

I love Elizabeth Warren. She has the ideas that I have longed for in a serious presidential candidate. she has everything: brains, great ideas, forceful delivery of them in her speeches.

But I am sick of the thought that the "Pocahontas" label will completely take the press' attention off her policy ideas and I wonder if she can just ignore it and even to use it to her advantage. Is it a burden on her back or a gift she can, and will, use in her campaign?

IOW, has the "Pocahontas" label helped or hurt her in the upcoming GE if she is our candidate?

Don't we need our precious time during the campaign to talk about the other pressing issues of the day.

Her child care proposal, for instance. Paul Krugman has an excellent oped piece in the NYT today discussing her ideas in more detail aNd we need to have further discussions on the subject.

but, while we should never cower in fear of this awful man, we don't need tohave our candidate's precious coverage time taken up with this stupidity.

Mika B., if you are the Democrat and feminist you say you are, will you speak out loudly and say you just won't tolerate any political discussion that includes Trump's name-calling?

to those who would politically meme our candidates to no end is not a them problem.

Snakes bite. Venom is their business.

It is an us problem. If Elizabeth Warren is your choice, stand by your woman.

Make being the antidote your business.

There will be excellent articles written about her policy positions but most of the mainstream media will promote the wrestling match, not the ideological match-ups. One of the things I like about Warren is taking shots aren't beyond her and she often attached generic policy thoughts to her attacks. The "Pocahontas" label will not help her. It will hurt her. But each candidate will have something that will hurt.

When Chump wants to avoid issues, he creates some kind of distraction. Why is the media always on a wild goose chase for that guy? Let the media attack him once in awhile. Let him squirm and make him answer a few questions for a change. The media keeps this game up, and we're standing by and letting it happen.

I'm still undecided but her policies, the ability to communicate those policies and having a backbone made of steel can position her to beat tRump.

Focus them on issues. I shut down a Democrat when she couldn't explain an issue she disagreed with because she didn't like him. I was convinced that she really wanted a woman on city council, not the best candidate. I disagreed with the issues the woman candidate talked about.

I agree with you 100%. At this point in time I am quite torn between Liz Warren and Sherrod Brown. I posted about Krugman’s NYT pieece earler in regards to Warren’s childcare proposal. I love her policies and her fighting spirit. I, too, worry about the Pocahontas label dogging her throughout the campaign. It’s so infuriating that the media blows this crap way out of proportion.
I truly loathe Trump and the power the media gives him to destroy anything good and altruistic.

2. Red Don will ... MAKE UP ... something to call someone ... he'll call Kamala Harris a tall white guy cause he can so matter WHAT ... WHAT the issue is real or imagined reality doesn't matter and they might as well march forward warts and all.

3. EVERY ... EVERY dem candidate should take every situation Red Don gives with his racism to talk about policy, don't feed into the racist with more than 5 of admonishment and then deflect ASAP.

That would end the issue. As I understand the situation, they aren't happy about her claim. I can see that, but can they have a positive conversation with her to iron it out?
