1. The form they are using this year is incredibly simple.

Unless you own a business or something you can fill it out in 5 minutes max. No one needs a professional for that.

2. This year we're doing our own. Before that, we used professional help because of complexity.

3. I'm using tax software, as usual.

I don't think it's all that simple to do "by hand".

4. I do my own and have done so all along. 54 years now.

Although it seems it might be easier this year as the 1040 form is shorter, there are schedules to add which add to the paperwork.
