(37,648 posts)They don't normally post happy vaca pics & say "From vacation in New Zealand! I'll be back Monday!"
There's no evidence at all to indicate his job is in jeopardy. He went on vacation. All the talk show hosts go on vacation, and take days off in the interim, too. Rachel does, Joe & Mika do, Tweety does...they all do.

(37,648 posts)you'll even argue about a tv show? Seriously?
There's not one iota of evidence that his job is in jeopardy. He's been at MSNBC for decades. He's not going anywhere. If his ratings aren't up to snuff, they'll move his show around....maybe.
But he'll still be there.

(42,862 posts)No need to make it personal with me. No need to judge and insult me. I haven't done that to you. Why are you doing that to me? What good purpose does it serve?

(37,648 posts)No reason to make it personal and be insulting and argue with a "he's on vacation" post. It's just a tv show. Seriously.

Honeycombe8
(37,648 posts)He has more viewers, but Erin Burnett has more 25-54. MSNBC hasn't commented on the question. So that's where that comes from.
I don't tend to do politics at that hour. But when I do, I do listen to Hardball. (I listen to podcasts.)

(14,964 posts)I am guilty of switching to CNN at that time often. I feel guilty about it though, (not that it matters) he has been around since I was a teenager.
Still worried about his health.
Honeycombe8
(37,648 posts)They do ratings like they always have, I think, and tv viewing has changed a lot the last couple of years. But if streaming would be counted, it would only make it worse for Hardball, since I think that would add to that younger demographic. I'm an exception...I'm older but I am a cord cutter, so stream, watch broadcast tv, listen to podcasts (I get FREE cable news podcasts legally), and they are rerun visually on some FREE apps on my Roku.
He has diabetes, posters are saying. I didn't know that. But millions of people have diabetes, so that shouldn't be a problem, as long as he takes his medicine & lives a healthy lifestyle.
I like him and his show, but I'm older so am not the demographic they're looking for. But even I think he's irritating at times, when he interrupts his guests.
He's 73. Cable news channels aren't keen on older people. If you look around, there are hardly any. That used to not be the case. Dan Rather, Walter Cronkite, Aaron Brown on CNN (they fired him to put young exciting Anderson Cooper in his spot), Mike Wallace, Brinkley....
dewsgirl
(14,964 posts)I have read he has type 1 diabetes, I've also read he has type 2 diabetes. I don't know which is correct. I hope that his cough he has had isn't something more serious.

(30,675 posts)when he comes back Monday. I'm glad he's coming back, I'm sort of fond of him but one of my irritations with him is his "all about me" in any discussion.
Actually, I bet he doesn't talk about it. I like him. He does have insights, from different angles than some others. But he does interrupt people all the time.
It's just a tv show. So, whatever.

(20,647 posts)as perhaps a bit odd that he gets another 2 weeks so soon after. I know I started pondering as to what was going on once Kornacki began his 2nd week as a sub.

(37,648 posts)When the President, played by Michael Douglas, tells his staffer, play by Michael J. Fox, to lay off the coffee in the morning (because he's so hyped in the morning)....Michael J. Fox says, "I don't drink coffee, sir." To which the President responds, "Then hit yourself over the head with a bat." Or something like that.
I like Kornacki's energy, though. It's part of his charm. Everyone's different.

(13,800 posts)His show is superb there. Calm, intelligent roundup of the day's news of the WH. Excellent guests, top print reporters and experts.
He's winning over FOX and CNN in that hour. Don't mess with success.
Honeycombe8
(37,648 posts)I lost respect for him, which means I don't trust much of what he says. When you host a political talk show, integrity is key. If he were a broadcaster, he'd be fine. They just report the news.
Dan Rather wasn't rehired for that reason.
Grasswire2
(13,800 posts)He's topping the cable ratings in that time slot, by the way. I guess many viewers recognize quality and value.
Dan Rather didn't lie. He didn't lack integrity.
Might be time to brush up on facts.
Honeycombe8
(37,648 posts)was fired and never rehired. His career in the big time was over. For not fact checking and running a story w/o verification, which turned out to be false. It was a big error, but not one that should have ended his career in prime time on a national network. But it did. Williams, who did intentionally repeatedly lie, was rehired. Go figure.
Might be time to brush up on facts.
Williams repeatedly lied in an egregious way. His career as a political opinion giver is over for me. He has no integrity, IMO. That's my opinion. You have yours. It's a subjective thing. You can't argue with it. I hold honesty to be the #1 character attribute for anyone and everyone.
I don't have cable, so I listen to streaming podcasts. I have never listened to his show, or watched streaming delayed telecasts of it. I won't watch him. But I think MSNBC can survive w/o me for a Williams hour.

Interesting that Roger Stone's name comes up aside Karl Rove's in the exhaustive review of the incident.
