Troopers caught up with him a short time later and arrested him.
The State Patrol wont comment on why the shooting happened, but Swonger says there were no arguments or road rage between them, he claims the driver just randomly opened fire.

(4,400 posts)1. 20 years ago I was driving on a city street
when a man on the sidewalk, a complete stranger, pulled out a pistol and aimed it at me. He then smiled and put the gun back in his pocket. I drove to my brother's house a block away and called the cops. They had 3 squad cars there within 5 minutes but didn't find the guy.

and life-altering consequences for the boys who like to play like this.

Uh, yeah, cuz he caused a 35-car pileup and ended in the ditch. Nice police work, that.
